Review of the Dye I4 Thermal Paintball Mask

Extremely Comfortable

When trying on the Dye I4 for the first time you’ll notice right away that this mask is extremely light and comfortable. This is because the Dye I4 is actually the lightest mask on the market and comes equipped with dual-stage foam and compression-formed ears. The dual-stage foam works great at keeping sweat out of your eyes and is breathable enough to keep your face cool as well.

The Dye I4 is also designed to be anatomically correct, making it a great fit for all facial contours. Special slits are even included in the mask to make wearing glasses comfortable at all times. This is a big advantage for those who prefer to wear glasses over contact lenses.

In order to make hearing easier Dye simply made sure the compression-formed ears were covered in tiny holes. Simple enough yet works great!

Great Vision

One of the main reasons the Dye i4 is loved so much is that it has the widest vision range of any mask on the market. By having an improved peripheral vision you’ll be able to detect movement out of the corner of your eye much easier than ever before.

The lens on the i4 is also the industry’s first compound radius lens with thermal technology. This type of lens provides the ultimate insurance that your lens won’t fog while out on the field, regardless of rain or shine.

A scratch-resistant coating known as HARDCOAT is also included on the lens as well to ensure both sides are protected against scratches and minor abrasions. In addition, a UV coating is also included to make sure your eyes are protected from the rays of the sun.

Quick and Easy Lens Removal

Removing the lens on most paintball masks takes way too much time and quite frankly can be pretty annoying. Luckily the Dye i4 comes with their patent-pending rapid lens change system that allows you to change the lens in about 10 seconds or less.

Just make sure to never fully immerse the lens in water as it will seep in between the two thermal lenses and leave condensation behind, thereby ruining the lens and causing you to buy a new one.

Is the Dye i4 the Right Mask for You?

If you’re looking to increase the number of eliminations you make when playing paintball then the Dye i4 can surely make that happen, especially if you’re upgrading from a much lower quality mask. The Dye i4 essentially eliminates almost all problems related to fog thanks to the anti-fog thermal lens and superior breathability of the mask. You’ll also get the benefit of having an extremely wide range of vision that can help you with spotting players out of the corner of your eyes.

This mask also comes with many different color and lens variations so you can easily find the right lens and mask to fit your style and favorite color combination. Beware though, while this mask may look really cool and intimidating it does come with a somewhat major problem that could make it less than ideal for certain players. The problem I’m referring to is the fact that the mask has a really small profile that may cause the bottom of your jaw and ear lobe to stick out if you have a long face.

This issue doesn’t affect everyone but it may be best if you try this mask on first at your local field before making any purchase online. Other than that the Dye i4 is an amazing mask that is definitely worth the money and will surely improve your paintball experience.
